About Das Turtle
Das Turtle seeks to create a unique musical experience at every show. We pull from a deep song list of crowd-pleasing covers and original music. No set list is ever the same and is fluid throughout the evening based on the energy of the venue, the night, and the collective conscious of the crowd and band members. We strive to create joy, unexpected experiences, a sense of community among our listeners. We are a group of 4 unique individuals from across the US with varying musical backgrounds united in our love of improvisational music.

ADAM CANSLER, BASSIST.
Born the son of a preacher man, Adam grew up surrounded by music. From the hymnal to the blues to Zeppelin, Adam’s musical tastes were formed. Adam started his musical journey in the church choir at a young age then on to piano, drums, guitar, until finally finding his true love, the low end.
Since finding his home in the eclectic “jam” scene, he has been working on his groove skills and serving the music from his souls rather than his mind. With a case of incurable G.A.S. (Gear Acquisition Syndrome) Adam brings about a constant evolution in soundscapes the band as a whole provides.

Brian “Hamster” Herasymchuck, guitarist.
Son of a Dead Head Father and Jersey Girl Mother, Brian's life has been filled with music of all styles. Born in Jersey, raised in Maine, transplanted in Colorado, he is no stranger to acid rock, long, winding jams, good ol’ acoustic knee slappers and beautiful ballads of the soul. Brian's musical philosophy is play what you feel, feel what you love and love what you play.

Jason Klein, drummer.
Jason began making electronic tracks in college. After stumbling upon and finding blissful contentment within the jamtronica scene, Jason started taking drum lessons and has since been busy improving his chops and building more electronic tracks, which you can find here.
Jason integrates electronic beats and soundscapes into his drumming and loves incorporating acoustic world instruments and rhythms into both his stage kit and his approach to the groove. To long jams, short set breaks, and big finishes, cheers.

TODD LIDO, KEYBOARDIST/GUITARIST.
Todd got the music making bug early in life by a guitar teacher who taught him how to figure out music by ear. In 1993, he saw his first Grateful Dead concert and the experience was like the first scene in color in The Wizard of Oz--before then all he knew were 5 note blues/rock guitar styles, but here was Jerry Garcia using scales and modes he had never heard in a rock context!
As an adult, Todd worked at The Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago and soaked up folk and world music styles in that unique learning community. Between bands, Todd's desire to write music drove him to learn home studio recording and other instruments to fill out his recordings including bass, mandolin, and keyboards. Check out Todd's SoundCloud at soundcloud.com/toddlido and YouTube at youtube.com/@toddlido.
Das Turtle Manifesto
How is it that several world cultures from India to China to North America have stories of a great turtle the world rides upon through heavens? It’s themes like this that Das Turtle explores in its music: What is objective truth? Are we just these slowly rotting bags of meat? Or eternal astral beings merely on one waypoint in our journey through spacetime? Can anyone eat just one potato chip?
Das Turtle doesn’t address these themes lyrically, or even musically… or directly at all to be completely honest. But through intention and by channeling the collective energy of musician and audience. After all, quantum superposition and the observer effect are established principles in physics. The logical extension of those tenants into the realm of sound infer that the audience are active participants in shaping the outcome of this grand audio experiment. Much like the ripples a turtle makes in a pond, those energies travel through the multiverse without end.
